Filters

Filters can enhance your viewing by isolating certain light wave lengths, making your subject standout more. Nebulae filters can increase contrast of the subject against the back ground sky and eliminate light pollution.

Optolong L-Pro Light Pollution Filter

Optolong UHC Nebula filter

Optolong OIII Nebula filter

Optolong Nebula and light pollution filters

CLS filter. is suitable for visual, colour and unmodified DSLR cameras the  has a wider band pass then UHC filters and is more suitable for mild to moderate light pollution areas. Reduces the effects os artificial lighting including mercury vapor lamps, both high & low pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere (i.e. skyglow).

L-PRO Filter. Suitable for CCD, DSLR cameras and visual observation. The L-PRO is a multi-band pass filter which offers better colour transmission. The balanced transmission allows astrophotos to be taken with minimal colour cast to broadband emission objects such as galaxies, reflection nebulae and globular star clusters. L-Pro is the best choice for light pollution suppression.

UHC Nebula filter. The filter is suitable for enhancing the contrast and details for both visual and photographic purpose at sub-rural area with heavy light pollution. UHC has z narrower passband and provides higher contrast than CLS and L-PRO filters

Oxygen III filter. Used with larger aperture telescopes the OIII filter is Suitable for visual observation on most emission nebulae, planetary nebulae and supernova remnants. It is a narrowband filterand is is designed for nebula observation allowing 25nm bandwidth of light centred on a wavelength of 500nm, which corresponds to OIII emission lines, and reducing the transmission of certain wavelengths of light.

All Optolong filters are made out of Schott substrate material and is 2mm thick. Fine-optically polished to ensure accurate 1/4 wavefront and <30 seconds parallelism over the both surfaces. They feature Non-cementing optical substrate coating, Electron-beam gun evaporation with Ion-assisted deposition coating technology for durability and resistance to scratching, as well as stability on CWL(central wavelength) no deviation affected by temperature change.

Available is 1.25", 2" or clip on DSLR

Thousand Oaks LP-3 Oxygen III Filter

Thousand Oaks LP-4 Hydrogen-Beta Filter

Thousand Oaks Nebula and light pollution Filters

Enhanced your deep sky viewing with the latest in multi-layer coating technology. Three years in development. Thousand Oaks filters transmit desired wave-lengths in a very steep slope vs. gentle transition slopes in competitive brands. This means better contrast and overall performance. Filter cells are colored coded for easy identification. Manufactured in the U.S.A

Lumicon Nebula and light pollution filters

OIII narrow band-pass filter isolates just the two doubly ionised oxygen lines (496 and 501nm lines) emitted by diffuse, planetary and faint nebulae. Thus, these faint objects become much more visible against the blackened background of space. The Oxygen III Filter produces near-photographic views of the Veil, Ring, Dumbbell and Orion nebula, among many other objects. Performs well under both light-polluted and dark skies. Manufactured in the U.S.A
